When wood is still green when turned, it continues to move and change even after it has been worked. This makes each bowl a unique (and functional) piece of art shaped by tools and nature.
Ash
This 12" bowl was turned from a large tree that fell in a recent wind storm. Finished with walnut oil.
White Oak
On a 100 degree day this last summer my friend's white oak tree shed a large branch that I turned into a series of bowls (including this 10" with a beautiful bark inclusion).
Maple
Madrone
All of the Madrone I turn is harvested from fallen trees on Anderson Island (WA). Madrone changes shape more than any of the other species I regularly turn. Each piece is a surprise and truly unique!

Apple
While apple sap wood is usually light in color, the heart wood turns darker and richer as it ages.
